HELLO EVERYONE

I'm importing my old accounts (aumoe pnictogen _mao iconduct and maybe frogpillow if I can figure out how to unbork it) over to dreamwidth (maoli.dreamwidth.org/). After that, I'll just let them be purged.

I was heavily using tumblr for a few years (bromine.tumblr.com), but I'm mostly on twitter these days (@erinnospy), as well as instagram and facebook (you'll have to ask for that *a*). I tried using plurk, and I might try setting up an IFTTT thing for it, but we'll see. Twitter has been the thing that's stuck for me, it seems, along with physical journaling.

I met most of you through the KG forums when I was 14 and new to the internet. I miss that community and the LJ community - things have always been familiar and comforting about them, and it's been strange to watch social media grow in ways foreign to me. Change isn't bad, though, and it's best to keep plodding along.

I've grown from an awkward teenager to an awkward adult since I started blogging. Livejournal and tumblr allowed me to get excited about my interests and have shown me beautiful things, while also seeing me through my lows. I've enjoyed looking over my old posts and writing and seeing the dichotomy between what's changed and what's remained the same. I got my first job, started dating, graduated highschool, met my current partner, moved across the country and back, wrote a thesis, finished my undergrad degree... 14 year-old me honestly didn't think we'd make it this far. 27 year-old me is still pretty on-the-fence about facing the next 50 years or so. One thing at a time.

I value the friendships and connections that I made with you guys - please don't hesitate to chat me up if you'd like to catch up. My AIM handle is still seaborgium258.

The observation of change is how we can quantify things and read meaning into them. I hope our changes are for the better.

So, um, in other news, boifren and I talked about moving in together, and... yeah. I gave my landlord my notice last night.

I feel pretty lucky to have someone this special in my life: I know that if I need to study and ignore him, he'll support me; that if I need a shoulder to cry on because I've had a bad day, his is there for me; and that he thinks I'm beautiful and special and awesome for just being me.

That's a pretty great thing.

Anyways. We're going to be sharing a space that's literally the size of a 1-car garage, but, well, we've been doing that for a while. I guess the only difference is that there will be slightly more stuff here, haha. Oh well!

I'm looking forward to moving into a 1-bedroom come September... we'll get to have a couch! Squee. <3

I don't have a lot to report. School is keeping me occupied, I applied for a full time job today at a grocery store (blah), and I have about $100 to my name right now. I was also in the hospital last week for 4 days. Whoo.

Time to read my book!

The semester is over! I escaped with most of my sanity and without gaining more than 10 pounds. Hooray! After eating healthy over the entire summer, shifting back into school makes me realize how unhealthy my school lifestyle is. I need to change that.

Waiting for marks to get back... on the bright side, I passed physics! Hooray!

My last final was Tuesday evening, and I have literally done nothing except go to work a few nights this week and stay up quite late every night. Last night, I got bored around midnight, so I drove around and went for a walk and didn't get home until 3:30. Teehee!

In other news, I am wanting for a glass of pinot noir right now.

So, an update.

I'm doing a philosophy minor. I'm doing a philosophy minor... in applied ethics.

I've secretly wanted to be a humanities student for so long... anyways. My one philosophy class that I'm taking right now, 'Issues in Biomedical Ethics', is so very, very interesting. We've actually spent the past 2 weeks talking about abortion; we are now a week behind on our course material, haha.

There are no abortion laws in Canada. There have been no abortion laws in Canada since 1988.

... wtf.

Update, update!

So, the term has started again. Feeling pretty good about the whole situation at the moment, teehee. This term, I have calculus (for social & biological science), physics, minerology (!!!) and a philosophy class called 'issues in biomedical ethics'. Profs are all super awesome.

Unfortunately, I am still working 5 days / week... which should end soon, as dinner service stops on the 15th, but... whatever. I will be a tired panda after next week.

I got my ears pierced yesterday, for the first time ever! Had the following conversation with the girl who pierced me:

"Have you ever had your ears pierced before?"
"No..."
"How old are you?"
"Twenty..."
"Do you have ID?"

Tee-hee. I have cute, 3mm white-gold studs. White-gold that is hypoallergenic and is an alloy of gold and palladium, random fact/true story. Palladium!

Homework tally as of 2:20 today: 2 math assignments, 1 physics assignment, physics and math questions from the textbook, phil reading, minerology reading and lab prep. Whoo! I should get started on some of this. Off I go!

Update time!

I am very much looking forward to work being semi-over in 3.5 weeks. For the most part, anyways... the last night for fireworks is the 4th of September. I'll probably end up being employed into October for a few days a week, which would be nice I suppose.

They've been trying to cut labour at work, so as a result most people's hours have been cut. I was lucky this week, but a few of my friends weren't.

A couple nights ago, I gave poledancing a try. One of the girls I work with used to teach it, so me & another friend from work went over to her place, had mojitos, and played on a pole. It was a lot of fun! My arms & core are still a little sore though, teehee. I also have bruises on the inside of my thighs. o_O;

I'm going to go kayaking today! Quite exciting, I haven't been in a few years (since summer camp, I suppose). My two friends who I'm going with have never been before... this will be entertaining.

I moved most of my things out of Brett's, I just have a chair and a couple boxes left to go and get. I don't want to talk to him. I think I'll go over tomorrow when he's at work, since I still have a key. Excellent.

Dave is leaving in 2 days for TN to see his girlfriend. He's gone for 3 weeks! I am going to be so very, very bored. Time to buy a pole?

Ooooh! I also bought my textbooks for the coming semester. Less than $250 for the lot... pretty good.

That's... that's all. Whee!

I broke up with my boyfriend. I feel clean & it's lovely... I feel like I can breathe now. Everything will be okay. : )

- I really need to clean my fish tank.

- Breakfast groups have started at work! This means that I am up most days by 5:30 or 6 in order to get to work on time. Sleep, I miss you.

- School starts again on tuesday. Another summer of having no life, hello.

- Beer, I miss you too.

- I've been so stupidly sleepy lately, taking naps and going to bed early. Also, I think my kidneys might be infected again.

- Tax rebate = $550ish. Yay! I am buying new shoes as soon as I deposit the cheque. And then paying tuition with the rest.
